Weekend Buzzaria at ATS Noida Sept 2012

Moushumi arrived at Buzzaria, the day of the inauguration, brought in by Aarti and that was my first connect with her.Couple of weeks later we were again talking this time with the thought of her doing a Weekend Buzzaria at her home in ATS Noida. She would get Aarti to talk on her behalf. She was hesitant and nervous and unsure of most things. Her twinkling eyes which I am now used to were filed with concern in those days.
A year later Moushumi has come into her own.Wow :) I love it,each time I see the transformation. The empowered women is a delight to watch.

Her 4th Weekend Buzzaria is around the corner and she is confident and excited. In the last few months she took Buzzaria on the Move to Goa and was with us at  The Indian Market Place we created at Diwane Khas, Taj Delhi, the two BuzzouQ's and the Fashion Make Over by Social Potpourri at Buzzaria.

All the above events have allowed her to connect to her skill sets, the journey into learning social media has allowed this stay at home mom to add a new dimension to her learning curve.

I am so proud of her and now she is guiding Priyanka another stay at home Mom,Priyanka has a small baby and a 90 year old grandmother to look after.

Each time I see my work as THE Entrepreneur Alchemist create results....my soul starts to sing.

Real women Achiever’s – by Falguni Patel

Real women Achiever’s – Mamta Mamta

“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.”
– Les Brown
It was 3.5 years back when I had taken a sabbatical to think, explore and contemplate on what I wanted to really do. I am true to my zodiac sign Gemini and change is what makes me the Happiest. Curiosity to explore made me venture into Fashion and retail segment. Coming from a humble service class background, it was a big jump for me to start a start-up of my own. But I did that. Little did I know then that it was perceived to be a courageous and risky take. I am happy I did that. I have learnt a lot in last 3.5 years of my entrepreneurial journey. So it really impresses me a lot when I meet such inspiring women from across the country who did similar things.
I always have been very fascinated by how women can multitask and carry jobs so efficiently. To deal with the work world and at the same time strike a balance between family duties is what amazes me. With the whole idea of emphasising and highlighting such women, I started this blog series of Real women and street style. We took you through some stylish women in this series. This is a separate extension of the real women series which focuses more on entrepreneurial spirit and achievements. So we call it “Real women achievers” series.
I met Mamta Mamta through the same virtual platform and I am glad I interacted with her. Miles away , through telecommunication also you could feel the enthusiasm and positivity bursting from her. She is a retailer , designer , entrepreneur , mentor and a fabulously positive person. So let me take you through her life journey

Name : Mamta Mamta

Summer Fun by BluPear at Buzzaria

Way back in 2004,one summer afternoon I was with my two sisters and driving in and around the various streets....and I happen to glance upon the most beautiful looking chappals.

I thought about these chappals day and night and I knew I was smitten for life, till then I kind of thought all my love was wrapped up with fabric,textiles,garments...what did I know about myself :) practically nothing.

I started selling these beautiful chappals to people in general...then I was in Mumbai...I of course bought some 10 of them for myself.
And everyone who came over would look at my assortment of color and smile and giggle.I didn't care.
A year of wearing and selling them I found the quality awesome,my feet didn't hurt,my feet looked pretty, and they could give any pair a run for its money.
Smug with the success of the chappals I became complacent.
And suddenly I was invited to participate in a fashion show in Dubai, this was March 2005,I designed 5 collections all for the Arab women.
As I had only a week to design the entire collection I was very flustered and suddenly via email arrived the size of their feet. Now I just sat there staring at the the email,I was lost, completely lost...what was I to do.
And suddenly these Indian Ethnic slippers winked at me:) and they were saying...HEY...we are here.
Arab fashion my Indian chappals those to flats on the ramp,I was really worried.

Voila! The chappals were a rage everyone bought them, the models the customers, the organizers.
One time I sold 75 pairs to one family they took them as gifts.
At some point in 2006 I co created Tribal Route and took these chappals with me...they were a huge hit with all the TR customers.
Life continued with the chappals part of my life :)
.....and then I moved to Delhi in 2009...people asked me about my chappals,I said some day...may be...lets see..

I was in one of those low phases of my life, and even my most happening chappals wouldn't make me happy :)
Then arrived Pratibha Mehra and said lets do something together...an opportunity to supply the chappals to a mega store came up...we branded,we bought we did all that is required ... didn't work out.

Finally I created Blue Lotus and all the desires of last 10 years came pouring out.
The first brand I created was BluPear
I love the BluPear chappals, they are so pretty, they make my customers very happy, they are comfortable and one can stand on one's feet for the entire day without getting tired.
The chappals are priced between Rs 500 and Rs 1000/- and clearly value for money.
They are hand made and part of the cottage industries. The embroidery is done by rural crafts persons.
Our little step to creating sustainable income for all...via a BluPear pair.

We invite you this week to try out a pair and tell us if like me you are also a BluPear fan for life :)

I am and I am told by most that I have damn good taste :)

So visit us this week at Buzzaria and be part of the BluPear family.....and if you happen to be the lucky BluPear Gal...your feet will get a special treat at Mantra - The Vedic Spa

Looking forward to connecting with your HAPPY FEET !!

A Brand new You

I connected with Sulekha at the Weekend Buzzaria in Noida the one at Aabha's place....this was July last year.
In Sulekha's words she just felt she could pour her heart out to me...I was then a complete stranger...God Bless Sulekha and others like her who speak straight from the heart.
She spoke about www.socialpotpourri.com.
I heard :) and The Entrepreneur Alchemist part of me said connect with me once you have launched the site.
Sept 2011 A petite Kriti entered my store followed by the cutest little daughter and informed me that she is the other half of social potpourri :) I said the same thing again connect once ready.
Time flew and we entered 2012 one day the duo found me and said now what.
Our journey began, with no marketing budgets and 2 brand new entrepreneurs :) and a start up in the space where....loads of big players are playing and one which we all love which we warmly call FB :).
Couple of months later we are racing about spreading awareness, pinpointing differentiators, connecting, selling, creating, etc.
Most of you who are entrepreneurs I am sure...get the picture :) We are breathing and eating social potpourri.
We chose to organize off line events, this involves lot of work...yet as I have attended over 200 networking events agreed that this was brilliant.
We have so far organized 4 in New Delhi and the 5th one is this Friday and I who many call the queen of networking, was sitting and pondering what is so special about this network.
And,I must share what I found just like Buzzaria ...social potpourri is also very personal, like your family.
Your space, your voice, you can be heard, and you can be seen...without having to raise your voice.
What did Buzzaria get for connecting with social potpourri....loads of buying customers :) simply awesome.
A brand new product rather a brand new brand :) 40 Winks by Aakshat Sinha
What did Buzzaria on the Move get...2 awesome volunteers for GoaFest...Thanks Mayank and Olivia
What did I get...I got loads of new friends :) lots of interesting conversation and a long time FB friend and I finally met...lovely meeting you Nikita...God Bless( Now Nikita had visited Buzzaria on 2 occasions but we never got to meet )
And I got to know about Tea House and spend an awesome evening at my favourite Cheese Chaplin...and came across a very interesting bed n breakfast place in SDA and met my dear friend Aarti twice ...Oh you must see what Aarti does besides selling her digital photographs from Buzzaria she helps you self publish
We also spent a mad evening sharing stories about colors and the special outfit of our lives.

Now all this .... in just 4 networking events....simply wow...and all at no cost, other then my time.
I am impressed ....maha impressed :)

And now together we have cooked up A Brand New You

I am in love with www.socialpotpourri.com.

The Entrepreneur Alchemist is smitten....
And Buzzaria says a huge thank you.

See you all there :) And in social potpourri's words Be there or Be Left Out actually it is Join Us or Be Left out...I am twisting it for my blog post :)

Story No.2 -A visit to Buzzaria -A story to be told by Kriti

Touch, feel and even a smell, go much beyond this physical world. Why else would a certain whiff make you shut your eyes and reminisce in memory; gaud in details of a particular time and place; move you away from the present to the ethereal? There is a particular smell that I associate with every country, city or town.
Buzzaria affects the visual sense. It is a bombardment of colors that uplift! Uplifted you move around to pick up an item or two, study it, keep it back or buy it. During all of this, somehow there is a want to connect with the people of the place. A need to associate with the creators of the products there – a feeling that says - “this is good for me!”
That lane in Lado Sarai may have a thousand different things that could be explored, but the signage of Buzzaria attracts one like a magnet and true to its magnetic nature – it does not make it easy for you to leave. One realizes that the budgeted time for Lado Sarai was completely hijacked by this one place!
The store was referred to me by a dear friend, and I went there to get some of those healing bracelets they stock. There was a huge demand for the same in my family since they saw it on my friends’ wrist. And so I went to buy those bracelets. I came back with those, a couple of stuff to add to my wardrobe and guess what more – a business associate!! Go figure…  Shopping spree I think not!! It turned out to be more of a value-add to my life, a lesson that I need to learn and the result of which I await.
All said and done that feeling has not left me – “this is good for me” – the inner voice resonates! “This is good for me” I repeat!

Sulekha's words :)

Sharing the first post for the contest A visit to Buzzaria- A story to be told

In Sulekha's words....

I am an amateur psychic; I sense things and sometimes see visions too. One fine day I found myself at Buzzaria on the move, Noida. Something compelled me to seek out this unfamiliar place, it called out to me. I didn't understand the pull, but I just knew that I Had to visit this enigmatic and exotic place called Buzzaria.   Normally, a practical, logical person, I didn't understand this urgency to be at this place I had just heard about.
The moment I walked into the place, I felt a sense of peace, of homecoming. The smiling hostess reaffirmed my faith in my instincts; I knew I was at the right place. I was in the presence of kindred spirits, I could hear them whispering, welcome friend. I was offered a cool lemon drink to quench my thirst and a warm smile which spread from the lips to the eyes.
As I looked around, I saw bright splashes of colours all around. I breathed in the smell of pure joy, dreams and felt the positive vibes. I touched the multicoloured skits, felt the texture of the elegant kurtis, and feasted my eyes on the exotic tribal jewellery. The healing paintings were a charm and I wanted to take them all home. After admiring the multicoloured juttis and chappals at the store, I stopped at the healing crystals counter; this was where I had been called to. The bracelet I picked up turned out to be a chakra balancing bracelet, I couldn't put it down.
The place was a visual feast; I tried on a cream kurti with bright floral cuffs and collar. A blue and white stole begged to be wrapped around my neck. While I was shopping, a voice kept urging me to share my dream with the lovely ladies present there. I introduced myself and told them about my future plans and they didn't find it strange that someone they had never met before was baring her soul to them.
I lingered for a while, after paying for my purchases. My feet refused to listen to my head and stayed firmly put. The warmth and the camaraderie at Buzzaria captivated me and broke down the usually solid and protective walls around my logical mind and heart. The connect I felt was reciprocated, and after spending an unashamedly long time conversing with the talented ladies present there, who were now my friends, I went home reluctantly.

Buzzaria (A multi brand retail store)

Buzzaria - An Indian Bazaar.....By Blue Lotus
For Women....By Women
The name has originated from the word "Bajaria" the local market at Sawai Madhopur.I am and was in complete fascination with the name and the local bazaar.Voila! one day while staying at The Ranthambhore Bagh.....I knew I am going to call my store Bajaria or inspired from that word....I was wondering maybe bazaria...buzaaria....and then Eureka :) next minute I got the word Buzzaria...what fun I was maha impressed with myself...haha....

Why an Indian Bazaar???

India is rich in culture.I find the diversification fascination. The varied religions, languages, traditions and festivals.
The colors, the spices, the artisans and the CRAFT…makes me wonder, how can one country have so much beauty.
My country makes me dance…the music, the dance forms, the talent.
With equal love and enthusiasm we accept all that comes from other cultures, the luxuries, the brands, the art of retail, the twists n turns in the food palette :)

So,an Indian Bazaar is an amalgam of all the above and ever changing and ever growing.
Buzaaria is the synthesis of an Indian Bazaar. A Bazaar Buzzing in all possible ways.
Buzzaria the brand belongs to Blue Lotus.

Blue Lotus has seven more brands

GodBless - Candles and Blessings
Mimathyma- Fashion as varied as the Butterflies
MeriJaan- Fun with Color and Textiles
EcoStorey - Go Green,Go Eco Friendly...that's the Buzz
HandsOn - The Handmade World
IamRa - Healing Services and Products
BluPear - The Indian Ethnic Chappals for your paer :)

All the above brands and many more by various social enterprises, NGOs,Fair Trade Organizations,Product Designers and Fashion Designers.

Women Entrepreneurs and various start ups of 2011 in the design space have come together in one space to give you a glimpse of the India...of the Now.

Buzzaria is the traditional,the ethnic,the contemporary,the new,the modern,the latest,the old,the fashionable,the hip and the fun stuff all do a merry dance together.

The choice is humongous, you have to see it to believe it :))

Buzzaria DELHI’S BEST NEW SHOP (in TimeOut magazine Nov 2011)

DELHI’S BEST NEW SHOPS

Buzzaria
In a city where kitsch is king, a new store with its whimsical wares is sure to create the right buzz. Welcome Buzzaria: a loud mela of kitsch and Indo-Western merchandise.
Mango walls with pink paisley greet you at the entrance. The inside is a mélange of every possible hue. Variously coloured portions of the walls provide a backdrop to the different brands, merging perfectly with the bright merchandise.
After running Tribal Route in Mumbai, owner Mamta Mamta returned to the city with a new store under the umbrella of her mother brand Blue Lotus. Buzzaria has six in-house and over 20 others brands at present. Each range has a different story to tell. If you are in the mood for an ethnic shopping spree, turn to hand-embroidered chappals from BluPear, healing crystals from IamRa, vibrant kaftans with block prints and beadwork from Mimathyma, or brocade silk bikini cholis paired with ghaghra skirts from Meri Jaan.
In a philanthropic mood? The chunky pearl-and-kundan handmade jewellery from Hands On (run by an NGO) or stuffed toy owls made by autistic children are sure to make you feel better about spending. And the rustic home accessories made of guava wood, coconuts shells and other natural materials from EcoStorey certainly get the green signal from us.
However, if kitsch’s your thing, jump with joy, as the store is the first to bring Mumbai brands Quirkbox and Bechain Nagri to our city. Slip into kooky pop-art dresses, shorts and jackets from Quirkbox, give vent to your mixed emotions with T-shirts from Ediots, overdose on Bollywood with bags and clutches from Item Number, and finally, try matching the illustrations of NID designers with your own doodles in notebooks from Bechain Nagri.
Before you decide to make a pit stop at this little shop though, be forewarned that it’s not likely to be a quick stop. And once the store ropes in new brands and expands out to fill its basement and first floors, the hours spent browsing here could lengthen to days. Akshita Nahar
F- 343 Bhram House, Old MB Road, Lado Sarai (4579-3261). Qutab Minar. Daily 11am-9pm. Products from Rs.25.
